Though at the present I don’t actively cosplay anymore, it played a big part in my life for over ten years. Dressing up and becoming another character was something that I always loved, previously having played (and sewn for) a lot of theatre. Cosplay also combines a lot of things I like – Sewing, crafting and wig styling!
These are still not all of my costumes since I don’t have pictures of all (or left some away intentionally), and you can see that some of them are rather old convention shots.

Obviously I can’t give you a list of materials here, I have used about everything in my house to make cosplay, from ordinary cotton fabric to left over electric cables.
For Cosplay
In 2024 I was asked to host a panel about cosplay for beginners. As per usual, I wrote down my own notes. I went to the internet, to see if I had forgotten anything. I read through multiple different articles. All covered more or less the same points. While reading them, more and more often I kept thinking “yes, but that depends”. So, this article here might be a little different from what you might expect.
You like fairies? Great, me too. I also like fairy wings and costumes… So let’s see how to make fairy wings! You can use it for any fantasy fairy, but also for those classical Tinkerbell wings.
